My Mission as Your Doula

My mission is to help women feel informed and find their power. I do this by assisting you in getting accurate, evidence-based information to make your own personal decisions for your pregnancy, delivery, and baby's medical care. If you don't know all of your options then you don't have any, and your decisions will be made for you. I encourage you to be educated in your delivery options, and make educated decisions that are right for you. By doing this, partners bond better and become empowered parents. I encourage transparent communication between yourself and your midwife/doctor. I do not advocate FOR you in the delivery room, since this builds tension and stress for your midwife/doctor. Instead, I encourage you to use full communication prior to delivery, making sure you're right a provider that supports your choices, and for you to use your voice in the delivery room. I seek positive relationships with care providers and nursing staff so that everything is copacetic for you, leading to the birth experience you wish for. I fully believe our birth experience can shape the kind of parents we become. I hope to build the confidence in you when it comes to your pregnancy, birth, and parenting choices.

My Doula Journey

My doula journey began before I even understood was a doula was. I began attending the births of my friends in 2005. It has always been my instinct to provide support to expecting women, and to attend their births. Throughout the years I continued to provide this support and get a university education in psychology, with a focus on Infant and Child Development as well as Biological sciences. It was only after my own birth that I understood how important it was to have an educated support person in attendance, a benefit I unfortunately missed out on. I became educated on the options of doulas, and how to become one. I took my training through Deb Codde (ICEA) in Marshall, MI in February 2014. Through my education, I learned about the benefits of Placenta Encapsulation. After knowing the benefits, there was no doubt in my mind that I absolutely had to provide this service for my clients so that they had the best experience possible after going home with their new baby. I began offering Placenta Encapsulation in November of 2014. I have since become a Reiki Practitioner, Postpartum Doula, and Certified Lactation Counselor. I dedicate my time and passion to my family, the birth community, and my clients.
